St Mark’s Academy amongst top schools nationally for academic progress in Sixth Form
Sixth Formers at St Mark’s Church of England Academy have achieved exceptional success in their A-levels, placing the school amongst the top-performing institutions in the country for academic progress.
According to newly released government data, St Mark’s is the fourth highest-ranking school in England—and the second highest-ranking state school — in the Department for Education’s Progress Score category, which measures students’ academic growth from GCSE to A-level.
This remarkable achievement underscores the Academy’s commitment to excellence and student success. With a Progress Score of 0.88, St Mark’s students made almost an entire grade more progress per subject than their peers with similar GCSE results across the country. This places the school well above the national average and highlights the outstanding teaching and unwavering commitment to providing an exceptional learning experience.
This accolade comes on the heels of another major milestone, St Mark’s Academy’s recent Ofsted inspection, where the school was rated ‘Outstanding’ in all categories. Inspectors praised the school for going 'above and beyond to support pupils in all aspects of their education'.
Executive Headteacher Hannah Fahey expressed immense pride in the students and staff, saying: “I am incredibly proud of every member of our community for the part they have played in securing these record-breaking outcomes. Our mission at St Mark's Academy is to transform lives through the inclusive Christian values of love, hope, and trust. These results are proof of what is possible when an entire school community is committed to that vision.
“I have no doubt that our sensational young people will go on to make an incredible impact in the world.”
We are delighted to celebrate this success and commend St Mark’s for its dedication to educational excellence. This achievement is a testament to the transformative power of high expectations, exceptional teaching, and a deeply supportive school culture.
Congratulations to all students, staff, and families on this outstanding accomplishment!
