Oxford Spires students embark on life-changing trip to Vietnam and Thailand

During their trip, the group of Year 12 students donated funds to a local orphanage that they had raised before setting off from the UK.
The fully funded trips provided 25 Year 12 students, with a focus on those from disadvantaged backgrounds, with the opportunity to experience new cultures, broaden their horizons, and make a real difference in the communities they visited.
Ahead of their departure, the students worked together to raise over £1,200 for a local orphanage in Vietnam, which they visited as part of their trip.
The funds went towards much-needed supplies, and the students had the chance to see firsthand the impact of their generosity.
“It was one of the best experiences of our lives. We are so much more aware of life outside the UK. We have been culturally enriched, and it was truly an unforgettable experience,” said Jack Perry, one of the students.
The experience was unforgettable, filled with cultural learning, community engagement, and personal growth. From exploring historical sites to connecting with local people, the students gained valuable insights that will stay with them for life.
The school is incredibly proud of the students' commitment and enthusiasm throughout this journey. This trip is just one example of their dedication to providing enriching experiences that extend beyond the classroom.
Louise Cowley, Headteacher at Oxford Spires Academy, said: “This was a truly incredible experience for our students, who have seen a part of the world many of them have never experienced before.
“The good they were able to do whilst there, and the funds they raised, hugely inspired them. With over £1,200 raised, they were able to make a real difference, and we’re very proud of their generosity.”
